The Nintendo Switch didn’t just blow up sales records when it was released to gamers last year. It proved fiendishly difficult for skin makers to cover.

Now, after a year of development, Slickwraps has done the seemingly impossible, coming up with a skin that protects and personalizes the Nintendo Switch without damaging it in the least.

In a statement to customers, who have been anxious for somebody to solve the puzzle, Slickwraps CEO Jonathan Endicott said: “It has taken a bit of time, and we appreciate your patience as we researched the best methods to cover your Switch. We can now definitively say that we have achieved the highest level of protection customers have come to expect from our wraps.”

Slickwraps’ multi-piece design covers the entire Switch system, from the wireless Joy-Con controllers to the tablet-like console and docking station. That protects the system from scratches and small drops whether it’s being played at home or on the go.

The wraps are made from an exclusive material developed by 3M for Slickwraps, which makes them in the United States. Putting them on and taking them off will not damage the delicate exterior of the Nintendo Switch.

That was Slickwraps’ main concern when it pulled back from releasing skins for the Switch last spring. The company felt it was not worth risking damage to the game system even though demand for skins remained high. Slickwraps even posted a video of its failed attempts online.

Now that right skin has been developed, they can be customized by buyers or purchased in one of Slickwraps’ many popular series, ranging from Retro and Hero to Galactic, Villain, Camo and Stones (all offering multiple choices of color).

Slickwraps is a Wichita, Kan.-based company that makes durable, ultra-thin skins in eye-catching designs for phones, tablets, wearables and other devices, using tight quality controls and sourcing as many of the materials locally as possible.
